Experimental investigation of Ti–Al–Si phase equilibria at 800–1200 °C

Five partial isothermal sections of the Ti–Al–Si system up to 70 at% Al and 40 Si have been determined experimentally between 800 1200 °C. Seven alloys were heat-treated for 24–1504 h characterized utilizing scanning electron microscopy, probe microanalysis, X-ray diffraction, differential thermal analysis. No ternary phase was found ?Ti, ?Ti, Ti 3 Al, TiAl, TiAl(1d-APS), TiAl 2 , are in equilibrium with 5 . A vertical section at 9 shows that all data consistent each other. • is beneficial improving creep high-temperature oxidation resistance TiAl-alloys. Phase equilibria transformations Ti—Al—Si 800–1200 °C established. The solid solubilities do not change dependence on temperature.
